My First Time Cooking (Fried Rice)

Today I experienced cooking for the first time. I cooked fried rice. Unlike my parents the one I made today was very simple. The only ingredients were egg, rice, salt and vegetable oil. There were many steps to make the bowl of rice.

First I cracked open 2 eggs and put their yolks into a bowl. Secondly I took a chopstick and beat the yolks up so they would turn solid.  Third of all I had to turn the fire on and put oil into the pan. Then you pour the egg yolk into the pan so the yolk can turn solid. You keep flipping the yolk and chopping it into pieces with a spatula so the yolk will become into smaller parts and both sides of the yolk can be cooked.  After that when you think the yolk is fully cooked you add in some cooked rice (preferably dried rice). You do the same thing with the rice as the yolk but this time you need to chop the rice to every small bit.

Once you finish those steps you should have successfully made your fried rice. To serve it you lift your pa up with one hand and hold your spatula in the other hand. Let your spatula scoop the rice from the pan as if you were eating but instead of putting it in your mouth you put it into a bowl. If you got most of the rice but some are still stuck in the pan you tilt the pan and pour the rice into the plate or bowl. Now enjoy!

Geothermal Energy vs. Solar Energy

Which one is better, geothermal energy or solar energy? Well, we can use both sources to give us power.

Geothermal energy is warmth from the earth. It can be used as an electricity source by acquiring energy below the earth'd crust. Solar energy however, is gathered from the sun with solar panels that generate electricity.

The cost for a miniature power plant is around $3,000-$5,000 and the price per Kilowatt is cheaper. While on the other hand solar sails, solar panels and a thermal collector could be 6 times the cost of buying energy from a power plant. "Solar Power states that most experts believe CSP energy will be 3 times more than fossil fuels."

Energy from the ground involves a cycle of water turning into steam which would lower the amount of water in the world." But Geothermal Power states, geothermal water can be used over and over again." Energy from the sun gives off no pollution, no green house gases, but solar panels have a chemical that has toxic in it.

Clearly both sources have benefits and disadvantage in production, distribution, cost and environmental impact. They are both good but geothermal energy is the better one in my opinion.

New Year's Eve Ball Drop

Imagine what would it feel like if you were at Times Square waiting for the ball to drop on New Year's Eve? Well I wouldn't know because I can't bare the chaos and excitement of a the people yelling, cheering and screaming for the ball to drop. So that's why my family and I just stay home and watch the ball drop on TV.
While waiting for the ball to drop I saw a ton of performances. I saw performances from Las Vegas, New York and learned some new things on this show called A Toast to 2013.

In Las Vegas it was really hot so many people were dressed like it was still summer. There were many performances from famous bands and people such as New Politics, Panic and Imagine Dragons. Also the host for the show was Mario Lopez. He interviewed many people of what they thought the word of the year was. The word of the year was facey. I'm not sure I spelled it right but it was officially added to the dictionary. If you don't know how to facey you just take a picture of yourself with a smart phone.

After I got bored of watching the Las Vegas I tuned into the New York New Year's Celebration. I saw     Macklemore, Miley Cyrus and other performers singing. First Macklemore sang Thrift Shop and then he threw his shoes down to some fans so he could change outfits and do his second song that I forgot it's name. Then Miley Cyrus came and wore a big white coat that touched the ground. She performed Wrecking Ball and another song to make every body excited about. Soon the countdown started 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2, and ... 1! The ball went down, fireworks exploded everywhere and  confetti was everywhere soon a lot of people started to leave but there still tons of people waiting to watch the after show.

Before the celebration ever started I watched a show about the things in 2013. One of them was about a girl who demanded basic education and rights in front of the government. It was a good speech but she later got shot by a hater. Also there was new trend going around called photo bombing. You just jump into the picture by the last minute and ruin somebody's picture. Some people made very poor choices this year. Famous people tried to get away from the camera by shooing the cameraman or annoying them to go away.

Hopefully 2014 well be a better year. Happy New Year!!!
P.S This is my 100th blog!
