Diving

Today I went to the GISC (Germantown Indoor Swim Center). While I was swimming laps I observed other people currently in their diving practice. They could dive from many different places such as 3 platforms with heights up to 10 meters, 4 diving boards with 2 of each height and a little wooden bench that you jump off of. There were many people who attended the practice so my dad and I were able to see many people jump off of platforms and make giant splashes.

People in the diving boards were either really advanced people that practice on low grounds or beginners that were practicing to get better. The people on the diving boards weren't really interesting because they only did basic things like jumping into the water or going head first into the water. One guy was really advanced so he went to the upper level of the diving boards and did cool tricks like making a flip or doing a "V" by touching his feet with his hands in mid-air. That was basically it and the coach didn't pay much attention to them while he was more focused on the platform divers.

The people platform diving had to be brave because they had to jump from 6-10 meters into the water without injuring themselves. In case something bad happened, the coach had something that could make tons of bubbles so when the diver touches the water, they fall slowly and gradually go up to the surface. These people had to go through three flights of stairs to get to the top and jump off repeatedly. In conclusion I can infer that it takes a lot of bravery to jump off a 10 meter platform and hope you don't get hurt.

A Fall Festival

Today I went to a Fall Festival and this is what I saw:

There were many things to do at the festival. You could go in bounce houses, compete in a mini obstacle course, go on a slide or race in an inflatable obstacle course. If you were hungry you could go get some popcorn and enjoy it for free. But if you didn't like those, you could get a free Halloween goodie bag and get your face painted. Overall, it was a good place to hangout or to have fun at.

There were two bounce houses, a regular sized one and a baby one. The younger kids went into the smaller ones to be safer and the other kids went in the big one. The slide was a giant inflatable slide that was around 15 ft. tall and someone had to assist people because it was so crowded. Another thing was the obstacle course. Kids around 5-8 were doing the obstacle course because it seemed fun to them. First you had throw a rope, then you jump over some hurdles and go around some cones. Eventually they step into a giant tire and get out. Finally they jump over hurdles and at the end they get a tattoo. The other activity that was there was that you could go race your friends in the inflatable obstacle course. You had to pass some things in your way and then you climb a short wall. Finally you slide down the wall and you get out.

The other things they offered at the festival were amusing as well. You could of just come there to watch you siblings, and if you got bored it was probably as pain. But not anymore, you could of got some free fresh popcorn so you could be bored but still doing something delightful. Or you could wait in a long line full of little kids who were excited to get some paint on their face. I'm not saying it is bad but is sort of a thing to pass time so you could do that when your siblings are doing something else.

Hopefully in the future the add more events and keep the free popcorn so people can enjoy the festival even more than they do now!

Cruise to Alaska Day 4

Have you ever been to the capital of Alaska? Well you should go there and explore what the last frontier’s capital offers. In the city of Juneau you can go ride buses or tramways to go to glaciers. My cruise line gave my family a bus to ride on so we could go to downtown Juneau.
When my family got to downtown my mom bought us a shuttle bus ride to Mendenhall Glacier National Park. There were many things to do but we couldn’t go in to the visitor center because we had to pay an admission fee to get in. So other than that we started walking on a trail called the Nugget Falls Trail. This trail was an intermediate trail and was around 2 miles for a round trip.
I was ahead of my family by far most of the times so I had to sit down a lot to wait for them to catch up. Soon I reached the end of the trail and what I found was amazing! I walked on to a beach and saw a giant waterfall. The waterfall was so large I got wet even at 20 feet away from the water. Also in the background I saw a giant glacier. I took many pictures of my family with the background and then we left.
Soon my sister was hungry so we had to get back on the boat and eat. During the afternoon I listened to some violin music in the lobby of my cruise. After that I just watched some TV for the rest of the afternoon. When it was time for dinner I ate a spring roll with chili sauce and some lamb.
Finally it was night time and I got to go to the Stardust Theater to watch a show. This show was about love. Everybody was breaking up and coming back together. They called this true love but I didn’t like it. I was disappointed by the topic they chose and ended up not really getting the show.

By the end of the day I had discovered Alaska’s capital and what it had to offer.

Cruise to Alaska Day 3

Have you ever visited Alaska? Well on the third of my cruise my cruise docked at a port in the city of Ketchikan. Ketchikan was the first city ever made in Alaska. There are many sources of salon and other fishes in small ponds or lakes. There are also many wonderful museums and historical sights but sadly we didn’t go to any because you had to pay an admission fee. One of the most common things there were totems. You could find totems anywhere around the town and take pictures.
First my family walked all the way to some souvenir shops. Most of them just sold some expensive gifts but we found a cheap shop so we bought a magnet for my cousin. Other shops just sold some funny Alaska clothes that made parody of other famous brands. Another shop had samples of some seafood dips on some crackers. We got greedy and tried as much as we wanted to.
After we were full we walked around on some trails and some roads and we found a bunch of fish everywhere in large packs of 40. We took a bunch of pictures and went walking to find a bunch of totems. They were everywhere representing something probably special to the people who carved the totems. Some of them had animal heads while others had monster heads. Even though they were really interesting, they were freaky.
When I got bored we went back onto the boat. I just watched TV the whole entire afternoon. For dinner I just ate at a restaurant. But when it turned 7 p.m. fun things happened. I went to Splash Academy because it was Survivor night. We faced off in competitions and earned points to win. My team was Team Gucci and we were the champs.
Soon I had to leave and go to sleep, but still it was a good day!

Cruise to Alaska Day 2

Have you ever been on a cruise and gotten seasick? Well read about my wild adventure on the second day of my cruise. I had really tried not to be sick but ended up wanting to throw up. But thankfully I didn’t.
When I woke up I went to have breakfast at the Garden Cafe Buffet. They had everything from omelets to bacon to all types of breads and cereals with much more to eat there. I stuffed myself with tons of bacon, an omelet, some watermelon, a hot cocoa and much more to list. By the time I was finished I was so full I couldn't eat lunch. But soon I would find out that all this food would turn against me when the boat did something...
My mom and grandparents and my mom want to go play on the casino on the boat so they would have to leave my sister and I at some place. We found this daycare thing called Splash Academy. There were different groups from 3 months to 18 months, to 2-5 year olds to 6-9 to 10-12 year olds. Of course I was in the 10-12 group while my sister was in the 6-9 group. First we had free play time. We could do anything we wanted to do as long as we weren't loud. Some people played four squares while I beat anyone at Connect 4 without trying. After that we went over some ground rules and that was when the boat started to shake.
The boat was going through seas so everyone would have to bear with the boat. The 10-12 year olds could go to the teen place to explore what they do. All the teens had to do was play. They had PS3’S, Xbox’s, Air hockey stadiums and even a foosball table. We played for a long time until we had to watch a video. During the middle of the video some kid threw up so we had to go somewhere else. Then more people had to throw up and soon I started to feel sick. Thankfully my mom came and signed us out so we could leave.
We had lunch at the Seven Seas restaurant. I wasn't feeling good so I only ordered an orange juice and a vanilla ice cream. My afternoon wasn't exciting. I just stayed in bed and watched TV. Soon I went to the Garden Buffet to have dinner. It was seafood night so I ate from fish to shrimp and a few mussels. Then it was time to get ready to see the performance at the Stardust Theater.
I got front row seats and saw the show. It was about the performers on this boat and a little about themselves. Some tap danced while others sang songs. Overall it was just about people dancing or singing. When it was the evening the boat stopped shaking and I felt better.

What a scary and uneasy day for me on the cruise today!

Cruise to Alaska Day 1

Have you ever been to on a cruise? Well I went on a cruise from Vancouver to Alaska and it was fun going on the cruise but, the only thing not fun was the time that I used to travel there.
First my family had to wake up at 4:00 a.m. to travel to the BWI airport. We got on our first flight to the Chicago O’Hare Airport. The flight was supposed to be one hour and twenty-five minutes but to me it seemed like two hours. Then we had to go to a flight from Chicago to Vancouver’s Intl airport which seemed like ten hours. After that we had to do a bunch of immigrant things like examining passports and filling out declarations. Soon we had to get a taxi and go to our cruise. Then at the cruise place we had to wait in a super-fast long line to get check for security items and show our passports to get our room cards so we can get on the cruise.
When we first got on the cruise we had to put on hand sanitizer because they wanted the boat to be a sanitary place. We heard music and saw people dancing, but we just went to go find our rooms. My grandparents’ room was on the eighth floor and we opened it by sliding our room card in a slot next to the doorknob. When we went inside the room we saw a king sized bed, some lights, a bathroom and a little TV. There was also random food and drinks, but those you had to purchase those after you ate it or drank it. Near the bed was a sofa and a second bed. That bed you had to pull to make a come down and it was very small. Then we went to my room and our room was the same except that our room was bigger and some things were in different places.
We went to explore the boat after we saw our rooms. There were a lot of restaurants and bars but there were only three that were free or didn’t need additional money to purchase things. The first one was an outdoor buffet that was on the eleventh floor called the Garden Cafe. It had from ice cream to salads to soup to choose from in the buffet. You could stuff yourself from all the food they had to offer. The other two were both restaurants on the fifth floor. They were called the Seven Seas and the Four Seasons restaurants. They had similar food and you had to order with a menu to eat the food. So there were other restaurants that had Asian cuisine, French Delights and even a steakhouse. With so many food choices, how could you get tired of the different types of food?
When I it was becoming night time there was a show starring a bunch of performers and people introducing themselves and performing very funny or beautiful sights to see. First we had our cruise director, Richard introduced himself and gave us a summary of what thus cruise is going to be like. We had dancers dance, a comedian tell very funny jokes and discover the senior officers that had to take care of everybody.

So by the time I finished day 1 on the cruise I had discovered our rooms, eat at restaurants and saw an amazing show on this wonderful cruise!

Middle School

Ever experienced the pain of the so called "prison" for kids? It's called Middle School... On my first day there, (It was the 3rd day of school for other students because I arrived late) and I had to make some serious changes from elementary school to middle school. First, I had to memorize my schedule because I had to walk around the school to go to my classes instead of like in elementary school I just sat there having the same teacher and occasionally walking to math class. Secondly, the work is way harder. I have 8 periods and I have way more homework compared to elementary school.  Finally, I also have way more P.E. because I have it every day for 2nd period.

Once I got used to my schedule, things got easier. The first bell is when I leave to go to my next period and the second bell is when class starts. My schedule is, 1: Science, 2: P.E, 3: World Studies, 4: Math, 5: Lunch, 6: Media, 7: Reading, 8: English. You might have never heard of my 6th period, media because it is exclusive to my magnet program. It is when my class and I go on Macs and make things that involve multimedia. Some school schedules have different period days, but my school is a little overpopulated so we have the same schedule everyday.

In the morning of everyday I go on a bus near a local elementary school that takes about 40 min. to reach school. When I wake up in the morning it is around 6:30 and go on the bus at 6:53. My bus goes to many other elementary schools to pick up other kids. When I get to school it's around 7:45 and I go to my locker and attend regular day at school. When the last bell is rung, we go outside to ride our buses home. It is so overcrowded with buses, we have two lines of twenty-four buses. By the time I arrive home it's all ready 3:30 so I been away from my house for at least nine hours.

Overall middle school is really tough but I will have to get used to this because when I get to high school, things will be way worse.

Flute

What instrument do you play? Do you play a woodwind instrument, a brass instrument, a strings instrument or a percussion instrument? Well with all the many instruments to choose from I chose the flute from the woodwind section. Normally girls play this instrument but boys can play it as well. It has many notes and looks very complicated with all the buttons to press. But once you know the main notes, it's pretty easy.

The flute makes a very high sound but is sometimes very hard to hear when many instruments are being played at the same time because all the loud noise makes it hard to hear the high pitched sound of the flute. When it is played in solos it has a nice tone and when on high notes you can hear it over almost anything. The flute can be a very good background instrument or being the solo because it can be very loud and you can hear it's sharp and clean sound.

Flutes were known to exist in ancient times. They have been made out of either wood or metal. Early flutes were more like recorders because the were played vertically. Until 1847 a man named  Theobald Boehm had made the modern flute. It was better than the old flutes and you could play entire scales. One of the main changes was that it could be played to the side. Soon there was a whole flute family consisting of the C Flute (most common), the C Piccolo, the Alto Flute and the Bass Flute.

Many people now can buy a flute and play it as there instrument. Many people who had written flute music are J.S. Bach, Claude Debussy and Ralph Vaughan. Also there are many famous performers such as James Galway and Ian Anderson.

You can also play popular music here. Have fun!

Shift by: Kim Curran

What would it be like if you had the power to undo any situation in a blink of an eye? Well in the book Shift by: Kim Curran you can have that power. In this world there are regular people and shifters. Shifters can undo any situation but only if they follow the laws of shifting. To shift they just have to think about it and it will happen. But some consequences can be that if they encounter another shifter that has stronger shifting power than them they will have to live the other shifter's wish.

The main character of this book is a kid called Scott Tyler and he finds out he is a shifter when he has to do a extremely dangerous dare and as soon as he was about to die he wished that he didn't do this and suddenly he went to a different reality and he didn't even try. Soon someone found out he was a shifter and he had to go to ARES (The Agency for the Regulation and Evaluation of Shifters) and train to help the world hide shifters and don't let them use their powers to win lotteries or other things. So he started out there as a fresh meat ( a newbie) then he moved on to be one of the bluecoats. The bluecoats have can have one out of the three jobs be a spotter (people who find shifters), be a fixer (the rare job of fixing time) or the job of being a Mapper (people who see consequences). Scott became one of the fixer with only three alive.

Soon he finds this big fat guy who walks one meter per hour. He eats shifters and is a wanted criminal. He tries to eat Scott but Scott throws up on him and then he ran away. Now Scott's job is to find that fat guy and kill him. He finds him at the hospital but the fat guy kills Scott and something remarkable happened. Scott came back to life and he could control anyone. He tells the man to die and he suicides. Then he lives happily ever after.

Relay Carnival

If your a fast swimmer on your team you should probably know about the relay carnival or something similar. The relay carnival is just a swim meet that all teams from your division gather at to swim multiple relays. Not everyone on your team goes to the relay carnival, only some of the fastest in your age group go.

The pool we went to was very impressive, it had 2 diving boards, a 13 ft. deep well, long distance laps and it was a very big pool. The only bad thing about the pool was it's bathrooms. They were only were very unsanitary and there was a giant lack of privacy. You had to pull on a string to get water, the urinals had no stalls and it was overall really dirty.

All the teams in my division were there, with 6 teams in total. When we started the events they were way more interesting than regular events because of the fact that they were relays! In most relays my team got in 2nd or 3rd. Rarely we got in 1st, 4th, 5th or 6th. There were a lot of people cheering so the the whole pool area was really loud. After a while it was time for intermission.

After intermission our team was in 3rd overall for the standings. We continued to swim more relays and soon it was my event to swim. My relay was the 11-12 boys Individual Medley relay. I was swimming breaststroke while my other three friends were swimming other strokes. Once I jumped into the water it sprinted breaststroke as fast as I could. Then someone else took over so I could rest, so I watched the relay. We got 3rd, or at least that's what it looked like. Soon I found out that we got disqualified because of the fact that someone had a foul start (NOT ME!). Still this was a fun day to swim relays and a good experience!

Minecraft

Minecraft is a 3D sandbox game that Mojang built to let people have fun, express creativity and teach people the basics to survive somewhere. Notch originally founded this game and never thought it would be this popular for more than 10 million people playing it. Soon Jeb took over Mojang so he could make some major changes on the game while Notch did something else.

Many people use Minecraft to have fun by playing with friends, going on servers and simply just play by themselves. In Minecraft you can fight monsters, build giant structures and fight other players (PvP). If you get bored of playing on worlds you can install mods that add things to your game or go on servers that other people from around the world play as well.

People can also be creative in Minecraft by building things. For many people they go to creative mode so they have unlimited everything and then they build anything they want from Mario statues to ghosts to tractors. Also if people want to get very complex in building you can use this thing in Minecraft called red stone which is this type of ore that is like electricity in Minecraft. You can power things so you can move blocks, light things up and a lot of other things. But the only downside is that red stone is very complex so it can be pretty confusing and you can mess up a lot.

Minecraft can teach you basics in surviving the wild because even though this game is fictional there are realism points in the game like having a life, you can die, hunger and other things that can be very useful in the wild. It teaches you that you need tools and need to conserve your resources to be successful in the wild. Even though there may not be these fictional zombies, skeletons and other hostile things in real life there may be angry animals and bad guys that can come and kill you. The bad thing about Minecraft is that it doesn't teach you about about thirst, but you can download mods and lots of new things will be added.

Minecraft is more than just a game, its more of a passion and a hobby since some many things have been made for Minecraft. Shirts, websites, costumes and much more have been inspired form Minecraft as well as many other games. So go try out the Minecraft demo here!

Video Game Designers Will be in the Future!

(In school we picked a job and wrote an essay explaining if this job will be in the future or not)

Have you ever imagined, going to work everyday and designing video games? Or doing advanced computer codes to support video games? Then you have imagined of being a video game designer! Video game designers use coding languages such as C, C++ or JavaScript  and other languages . the video game designer outlook is still growing so video game designers will be one of the jobs that will still be used in the future.

Video game designers make video games that help contribute a large part into the tech age. If there were no video game designers, the world would not have much tech and there would be very little point in buying a phone or other devices. To keep the world updated, video game consoles have more use than video games. They can play music, show news and do other important things. If we didn't have video game designers none of this would be here, but we do have these creative and flexible video game designers with us.

Kids like to play games when they are bored, and if video game designers didn't make games to play, kids would probably die in boredom. Video game designers make important things for kids mainly so they can have fun. If video game designers weren't here then kids would have nothing to do. So, with the need of things to do, video game designers will have to keep working.

As a result, video game designers will be around in the future. People need video games for reasons like, to pass time and have fun. According to www.iseek.com, " This is a new or emerging career." Also according to www.mynextmove.org," New job opportunities are very likely in the future.: Therefore the outlook for this job is very bright.

Commencement Speech

(We had to write commencement speeches at school and this is mine)

Hello everyone I'm Jason He and welcome to all the ladies and gentlemen who are attending and celebrating promotion with us today. We have been working hard to make this day come true, the day we get promoted for grade school to middle school. All of us have grown as grade, but we have mainly changed by ourselves. We will leave behind a great school, smart teachers and perhaps even friends when we move into middle school. I will look back into the past to help me in the future.

Awhile ago when I was probably 8-9 I had to gain a very special responsibility, to look after and take care of my younger sister. When my sister was young she was very naughty and mischievous. she was uncontrollable because she would climb tables, destroy furniture and wreck the house. I would have to quickly deal with her and punish her when she had done something really bad.

Since my sister was so disruptive, I would have to be responsible and clean up after her. Also I would have to teach her lessons so she could be a better person. Sometimes she would get annoying but I would have to deal with it. There were time I would even have to educate her when she was too stubborn to listen to adults.

This new responsibility taught me very important lifelong lesson that will help me in the future. This lesson was that I would have to be responsible for my own responsibilities. This will help me remember things that I need to do when I grow older and move on. Also this a very useful skill to get organized.

As Fredrich Nietzsche once said,"Freedom is the will to be responsible to ourselves." We all have freedom so why don't we be responsible for yourselves and other things. Thank you everyone and let's make this a honored and remembered day!

Maryland Science Center

Have you ever went to a science center where you could do experiments yourself and discover how things work? Well I have when I went to the Maryland Science Center where most things in there were hands on. I got to do many things, I visited the first floor, the second floor and the third floor. Each of them was filled with different things.

First my group went to the second floor. We were on the floor that taught you about the human body. We discovered that our nose is a big part of the taste. That's why food doesn't taste that good when your nose is clogged up. Also we figured out that music effects your mood the most. If you were watching a scary movie without music it wouldn't be that scary. Then we were called in for a science lab experiment. Following the directions some staff gave us we were able to decode tar-tar, laundry detergent and two other powders form each other using liquids.

Then we trudged up to the 3rd floor where most of the things were fun. There was this activity where you have to peddle to power light bulbs. There were three bulbs, LED, Florescent and another bulb. The LED was the easiest to power, Florescent was a little harder and the last bulb was the hardest to power because it wasted to much energy. Then we learned about the two animals in the Chesapeake Bay. One was the Terrapin turtle and the other was a blue crab. It is really hard for blue crabs to not die, many crabs die when they are young.

After all that we rushed to the ground floor and outside to see an explosion. Some staff set up soda and some mint in a can. Soon the can flew up into the air and exploded. I took my camera and caught the whole thing. Then we went inside to solve riddles. We were stumped by many of the riddles so we went to look at dinosaurs. We got to pretend to be archaeologists by using a brush to brush sand away from bones to see what they are. Soon we had to go. I definitely learned a lot of things today!

Survival Olympics Volume 3

Jake was not ready for another day of this torture. He had been in the Survival Olympics for only one day and he didn't think he could go on. But deep inside he knew that his family would be crying for him if he lost one event. So now Jake was more determined than ever to stay in the events.

Today was event two the "Gladiator arena".  All of the tributes are placed in a room where they have certain items with them. They can use those items to help them kill other tributes in the arena. You can team with other tributes until there are 20 tributes left. During the middle of the game there will be a giant drop off. Elite weapons and armor will be dropped at random places in the battle dome.

Jake landed in a room that had a whole set of leather armor, a wood dagger and a almost broken shield. Then he was rocketed out of his room and saw 49 people that he had to kill. One person had no armor and no shield but he had a giant iron sword. Jake avoided him and found a guy with a gun. He stole the gun from the other guy shot him with it and also shot it at him killing two people during the during the first minute. Then People saw him equipped with good stuff and got ready to kill him.

Jake was scared that he might die so he ran to his brother who was fighting off 6 people with a overpowered sword that could put people into flames. He asked his brother to team with each other so they could succeed. Suddenly a Elite set of armor appeared out of nowhere. He wore the armor and started shooting people with his M-16. Soon only 25 people were remaining. 5 more people needed to die until the event stopped. One person had a trident that could make earthquakes. Jake killed that guy and took his trident to make earthquakes. Then four people died and the event stopped.

Jake was glad he and the remaining 19 made it into the semi-final round. They were going to have to work together to get out alive.

Survival Olympics Vol.2

As we left of, Jake and two other people have made into the Survival Olympics. Today they will go on a spaceship to go to Earth, the host of the Survival Olympics. 33 planets will send 3 tributes while Earth will send their best tribute into the Olympics.

Jake was excited that he would be leaving his planet and going to Earth, were all of the species began.
Also he was sad that he had to leave his family but he knew from his heart they would be cheering for him and his brother to win the games.

When Jake took his first steps on Earth it felt no different than Deminos. The gravity was the same and everyone looked like the same. Except for one planet, the tributes from over there had long ears and could hear for half a mile. When everyone got settled in they were going to start the first event for the games!

The first event the "Easy Obstacle Course". You had to get to the to before the others so you can stay in. The first 50 that make it in get to move on while the other 50 get hanged. You climb spiked ladders, dodge falling bricks and try not to get punched by giant foam balls that push you down into the pool of lava.

Jake got to his starting position and got ready to start running. There were 5 levels you had to get past. On the 5th level there was a red button you had to press to get qualified for the next event. GO!!! Everyone started to run but some people already got crushed by the falling bricks (that were 16 feet wide and 5 feet long) And others got pushed by the foam balls into the lava. Soon only 75 out of 100 people were left in the games. Jake was on the second level, then third, then fourth! He was in 14th place out of the remaining 75 people. Some people were so desperate they started to push other people into the lava but luckily Jake avoided them. Finally Jake press the button hard and ended up in 10th place with hands covered with blood and feet that felt like they were on fire.

Jake had qualified to make it in the second round! He and his brother both made it and were happy they were still alive and not in lava.

Survival Olympics Volume 1

In a world far far away, there was a planet called Deminos. Every four years there would be the Olympics, like we do as well. But in their Olympics one-hundred people enter, three people leave...

Wake up Jake! Today's the Survival Olympics tryouts! If you don't go everyone will call you a coward for not entering the tryouts! This was true, especially considering that Jake is the most athletic person in the school by far. He had been training for this day for months. If he didn't make it in, he would die, which is quite common for people this young because they can't take the pressure.

When Jake arrived at the fairgrounds it was already packed with tons of people that were ripped, muscular and fast. Jake thought that he stood no chance against them but he remembered that strength isn't everything, you need smarts as well to win. So he signed his name and went to the first event.

The first event was the giant boulder toss. Some people got crushed into smithereens when the tried to lift the boulder. Jake was in first place ahead of everyone because his boulder was in the lead of the mountain. But soon it slowed down and halted to a stop. His boulder was pushed down to 5th place. The first twenty people in the lead went on to the next challenge. While the others were left there to die.

The second event was about speed and reflexes. You had to run to the finish avoiding items that are thrown at you by the judges. Jake was in last place but since some items were thrown other people in front of him got hit and when they got hit they got eliminated. Now this was easy for Jake because the remaining people were giant and 12 of them got eliminated from the items. Soon only 6 people remained. Jake was in 4th place trying to get to 3rd so he wouldn't get eliminated from everything people were throwing.
At Jake's last step the was in 3rd place now because the person in front of him gave up.

The remaining three people walked out of the tryout stadium and were going home for a giant feast hosted by the makers of the Olympics. The three people who made it in were Jake in 3rd place, Jake's brother in 2nd place and a man named Davis Crupp.

The Mysterious Bird

Prompt: During your summer vacation you see a pigeon that sits on your window and always holds a weird looking branch. Everyday during summer vacation the pigeon continuously for one hour when you relax after lunch like it wants to say some thing to you. For 6 days its gone but on the 7th day it returns with an injured wing. Write a story about what happens with your encounter with the bird.

Why is that pigeon holding always holding a branch? Don't know don't care. Wait... I do care! I think he is trying to tell me something! [Builds Pigeon Translator 2000] Okay I'm going to try it on this pigeon. The pigeon says," YOU ARE ONE OF THE ALI..." NO!!! MY TRANSLATOR HAS NO MORE POWER!!! Just then, a truck comes and kidnaps the pigeon and I.

                                                   (5 Hours Later...)
Where and I? It looks like the pigeon is with me, too. There is a sign that says "^#@^". What does that mean? Nobody is here but me and the pigeon. I rip off the sign and threw it in the ocean making a large" SPLASH" sound. We're on an island! The pigeon gives me the branch it was holding and suddenly it transforms into a large stick. I make a house and survive on this dull island. I hunt animals for food and made a bed to rest in. Soon I even made my own silver ware. There is a pond full of fresh water. Another day passes by when I mark another tally on a piece of wood that I keep track of how many days I've been here.

                                                        6 Years Later
I am 16 years old now. I have been surviving on this island for 6 years. The pigeon has kept me company for all this time period. Suddenly the pigeon flies away and brings me back a basket full of cooked fish. I ate them all because I was tired of eating wild boar. I hear a ship! I make a smoke signal to the ship to make them come here. The crew welcomes me and the pigeon and brings me back home.

Pollution

Pollution is one of the most important things that is destroying the world and mankind. We have to try to conserve our materials or the following will happen, world destruction, humanity will disappear and (possibly) robots will take over the world.

The world will disappear from all the trash and other nasty things that we've created and threw away. Also the amount of trash we throw into natural water sources is bigger than the state of Texas! This is very bad considering that out of the world's water, only 1% of the water is what we can drink and survive on.You can help the Earth stay healthy by recycling, throwing your trash in trash cans (not littering) and pick up trash that fell or that someone put it there.

If pollution grows super severe our mankind might disappear! Trash might destroy water sources by polluting the water so it turns into a dirty trash color water that will probably poison us when we drink it and kill us. Also air pollution is made by factories producing smoke or just smoking a cigarette. This puts smoke in the air that can harm people, animals and make the world a darker place. To help prevent this from happening, don't smoke cigarettes, they have a drug in it called nicotine that creates addiction between you and a cigarette.

If the world becomes too populated with trash we will need robots to survive. If you ever seen the movie "Terminator" robots take over the world and try to destroy mankind. To stop this from happening we shouldn't litter and try to protect our planet by picking up trash, recycling and other thing that protect the Earth.

If we have too much pollution weather will change with us as will. Instead of normal rain that is just made out of water we will have acid rain that can harm humans' because it is made out of acid. Also global warming will continue quicker so the world will become a hotter place and there will no longer be glaciers, ice caps and snow because we need to burn the extra trash for more space which will create greenhouse gases that can make the world too hot for us to live in  or destroy everything.

After all these consequences the lesson i'm trying to teach here is that we need to help the Earth. We can help it by doing many things like recycling, or using renewable energy sources that don't release greenhouse gases into the Earth so we can live in a better place.

Hunger Games

Recently I watched Hunger Games because it seemed pretty popular at my school so I had to catch up on the news by watching the movie. Many things happened during the movie, there was a before the
Hunger Games part, during the Hunger Games part and an after the Hunger Games part. Overall this movie was exciting and was made like the book.

It all starts on the day of the reaping. Every year one boy and girls from each district gets picked to fight in the Hunger Games. The point of the Hunger Games is 24 kids face of in an arena to fight to the death. They have to use the environment and get loot from the cornucopia. Occasionally they get sponsored items that might help them win the Hunger Games.  The main character (Katniss) is at the reaping area. Her sister Prim is reaped but Katniss volunteers to go to the Hunger Games instead. Also the male that got reaped was Peetah Malark.

When the Hunger Games started 24 tributes were ready to fight. Everybody dashed to the center as soon as they could get off of their platform. This is when most of the tributes die. People take their weapons and kill weaker people to get their stuff or lose an enemy so they can win. By the end of the day Peeta and Katniss both survived the "Bloodbath" so they went around the arena looking for a hiding place. Then something weird happened,Peetah teamed up with the career tributes ( there are 12 districts, districts 1,2 and 4 had rich and healthy kids unlike the other poor districts) to find and kill Katniss. Katniss also found a team, she teamed with a district 11 girl called Rue and they worked together. But soon Katniss killed a career girl with a bow so she took her bow but then Rue got killed by a district 1 boy. Katniss git mad and shot the boy with her bow. Then the announcements said that you could team with someone from your district. Then Peeta and Katniss teamed up and survived to the last 2 people, Katniss and Peeta. The announcers change the rules again and said never mind the last rule, FIGHT TO THE DEATH. Katniss got outraged and told Peetah to eat death berries to leave no one alive. Then just at that moment the Government stopped the nonsense and let them live.

When both heroes returned home they returned as heroes. Even though the government was mad at them because 2 kids ran over the government but what would 12 districts do ? Watch or read Catching Fire the second book in the Hunger Games series.

My Birthday Party

Do You like having birthday parties? Well my birthday party was awesome and you should have been there. 6 of my friends came but we had so much fun that the party lasted for 5 hours! We played so many games by the end we were really tired.

Some of the games we played were Sardines, Hide and Seek and video games. First when everybody was just arriving we started to play Super Smash Bros Brawl on my Wii. We had a tournament to see who was the best at it. We fought with make believe characters such as Mario and Sonic. I was pretty good but some people were better than me. I lost and let someone else play so I could play something else.

Soon everyone got bored of playing video games so I suggested that we should play hide and seek. We did that for a while and many people got caught. I cheated once by going into my room (which was off limits) and waiting there. Then I went downstairs where the person that was it started at. When the it person saw me I said I was standing here the whole time and you must be blind.

After playing games it was time to eat. We had cheese cake, cheese pizza, bacon pizza, soda and juice. It was fun eating all that food at the party. Some snacks were pineapple, veggie straws and party mix. Then it was time to open my gifts. I got 2 $15 Gamestop gift cards, 1 $25 Best Buy gift card, 1 $20 Target gift card 1 $25 Target gift card, a Nerf Gun, Lolipops and an Enderman toy from Minecraft.

Soon everyone had to go because the party was over. I had so much fun at my 11th birthday party!!!

Frozen 2013

Imagine if you were trying to save your sister who was a ice queen and froze everything she touched. Well that is basically what happens in the new movie Frozen. A princess goes on a quest so she save her sister so everything can turn back to normal.

A princess lived in a castle with no other people to play with except her sister.  Most of the time her sister didn't even answer because when they were small something bad happened. They were playing in a room one day and the older sister used her ice powers to make a snowman. Then she brought in even more snow so they could have even more fun. She made a slide and let her little sister slide down. But while the little sister slid down the slide she crashed into something and the older sister hasn't played with here ever since.

One day the castle opened it's gates so visitors could come. The younger sister met a prince that she wanted to be engaged with. She showed her sister ( now the queen) that she wanted to marry him but the queen got angry and ran away. The younger sister went to chase the queen so she could return everything back to  normal. The younger sister found her sister but instead of turning everything back to normal she froze her sister's heart. Soon she was going to be completely frozen until she found true love. First she went back to the castle to find the man she liked earlier and ask him to get married but he refused to. Soon she was completely frozen until her sister finally realized that she was supposed to like her sister to make everything better. Her sister found her true love and got unfrozen. Everything was back to normal and everybody was happy except the man who didn't marry the younger sister was locked up and sent back to his country.

Going to my Grandma's Youngest Brother's House

In China I had tons of fun, all because of traveling and going to my grandma's youngest brother's house. I played video games, ate a lot of food and played more video games.

When I first got  to my grandmother's youngest brother's house I asked my mom to play her iPad because there was wi-fi at her house but my mom refused. My uncle brought out his iPad for me to play but my sister got to it first and was going to play it for a long time. Then he invited me to play Call of Duty: Ghosts on his PS3. I got the hang of the controls but the story plot was too scary for me so I asked to play a different game. After that I played this aerial shooting game but it was too hard. Finally he introduced me to Need for Speed Rivals. I was a police trying to crash into robbers but I kept going too fast and missing the robbers. Soon we were called for lunch.

During lunch we had a feast. In front of me was chicken, salad, shrimp and cucumbers. I ate stuffed myself and drank liquid bread (trust me it's good). Since I ate so much I was full and wanted to go back to playing video games but I had to rest. While resting I ate dates, ice cream cones and chocolate. When my body was ready I went back to playing video games.
\
Once I started playing video games again my uncle introduced me to Call of Duty: MWF2. I loved it so much that I asked him if we could play multi player so he brought out another controller.  We played many multi player games during the time period that we had. One game was when I was on a airplane with a mini gun while my uncle was trying to get on to the plane by meeting us at a certain point. It took us forever to finish the mission but eventually we did. Soon I had to go. This was the funnest day at China!

My First Time Cooking (Fried Rice)

Today I experienced cooking for the first time. I cooked fried rice. Unlike my parents the one I made today was very simple. The only ingredients were egg, rice, salt and vegetable oil. There were many steps to make the bowl of rice.

First I cracked open 2 eggs and put their yolks into a bowl. Secondly I took a chopstick and beat the yolks up so they would turn solid.  Third of all I had to turn the fire on and put oil into the pan. Then you pour the egg yolk into the pan so the yolk can turn solid. You keep flipping the yolk and chopping it into pieces with a spatula so the yolk will become into smaller parts and both sides of the yolk can be cooked.  After that when you think the yolk is fully cooked you add in some cooked rice (preferably dried rice). You do the same thing with the rice as the yolk but this time you need to chop the rice to every small bit.

Once you finish those steps you should have successfully made your fried rice. To serve it you lift your pa up with one hand and hold your spatula in the other hand. Let your spatula scoop the rice from the pan as if you were eating but instead of putting it in your mouth you put it into a bowl. If you got most of the rice but some are still stuck in the pan you tilt the pan and pour the rice into the plate or bowl. Now enjoy!

Geothermal Energy vs. Solar Energy

Which one is better, geothermal energy or solar energy? Well, we can use both sources to give us power.

Geothermal energy is warmth from the earth. It can be used as an electricity source by acquiring energy below the earth'd crust. Solar energy however, is gathered from the sun with solar panels that generate electricity.

The cost for a miniature power plant is around $3,000-$5,000 and the price per Kilowatt is cheaper. While on the other hand solar sails, solar panels and a thermal collector could be 6 times the cost of buying energy from a power plant. "Solar Power states that most experts believe CSP energy will be 3 times more than fossil fuels."

Energy from the ground involves a cycle of water turning into steam which would lower the amount of water in the world." But Geothermal Power states, geothermal water can be used over and over again." Energy from the sun gives off no pollution, no green house gases, but solar panels have a chemical that has toxic in it.

Clearly both sources have benefits and disadvantage in production, distribution, cost and environmental impact. They are both good but geothermal energy is the better one in my opinion.

New Year's Eve Ball Drop

Imagine what would it feel like if you were at Times Square waiting for the ball to drop on New Year's Eve? Well I wouldn't know because I can't bare the chaos and excitement of a the people yelling, cheering and screaming for the ball to drop. So that's why my family and I just stay home and watch the ball drop on TV.
While waiting for the ball to drop I saw a ton of performances. I saw performances from Las Vegas, New York and learned some new things on this show called A Toast to 2013.

In Las Vegas it was really hot so many people were dressed like it was still summer. There were many performances from famous bands and people such as New Politics, Panic and Imagine Dragons. Also the host for the show was Mario Lopez. He interviewed many people of what they thought the word of the year was. The word of the year was facey. I'm not sure I spelled it right but it was officially added to the dictionary. If you don't know how to facey you just take a picture of yourself with a smart phone.

After I got bored of watching the Las Vegas I tuned into the New York New Year's Celebration. I saw     Macklemore, Miley Cyrus and other performers singing. First Macklemore sang Thrift Shop and then he threw his shoes down to some fans so he could change outfits and do his second song that I forgot it's name. Then Miley Cyrus came and wore a big white coat that touched the ground. She performed Wrecking Ball and another song to make every body excited about. Soon the countdown started 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2, and ... 1! The ball went down, fireworks exploded everywhere and  confetti was everywhere soon a lot of people started to leave but there still tons of people waiting to watch the after show.

Before the celebration ever started I watched a show about the things in 2013. One of them was about a girl who demanded basic education and rights in front of the government. It was a good speech but she later got shot by a hater. Also there was new trend going around called photo bombing. You just jump into the picture by the last minute and ruin somebody's picture. Some people made very poor choices this year. Famous people tried to get away from the camera by shooing the cameraman or annoying them to go away.

Hopefully 2014 well be a better year. Happy New Year!!!
P.S This is my 100th blog!
